Why did Dr. Sharfi become an ophthalmologist?

From a young age, Dr. Sharfi always had a deep fascination with intricate tasks, particularly those requiring precision and a steady hand. This interest naturally evolved into a love for working with her hands, and she found herself drawn to the delicate art of surgery. Her journey into ophthalmology began through a personal experience—volunteering in the Retinoblastoma clinic in Sudan and taking her father to his ophthalmology visits. Watching the impact that skilled care had on his vision and quality of life left a lasting

impression on her. It was in those moments, sitting in the clinic, that she realized the profound impact of this field. Ophthalmology beautifully merges her passion for surgery with the opportunity to make a tangible difference in patient’s lives.

What does Dr. Sharfi do outside of being a doctor?

Dr. Sharfi enjoys practicing yoga, playing tennis, and curating mixtapes and menus for friends and family.
