Community Service
Many of our doctors are active faculty members or affiliated with all of the local University training programs in the greater Chicagoland area. As such, they work to not only educate future generation of ophthalmologists, but to help those patients in need with advanced ocular disease, requiring tertiary care.
Our doctors and employees are encouraged to participate in local vision screenings, such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s EyeSmart EyeCheck screenings in Chicago and Aurora. Dr. Albanis joined in the effort to help find undetected eye disease in underserved areas.
Arbor works closely with the Lions Club International to donate eyeglasses for those less fortunate. Please look for boxes throughout our offices, or bring your old glasses to our Homewood Optical Shop for donation.
Several of our doctors participate in patient and physician advocacy efforts at the state and national levels, working hard to educate the political leaders of our communities. “Advocating for the needs of our patients, and our profession, is of utmost importance in medicine today. Our lawmakers need to hear what is happening in the ‘real world’, and we are proud to spread the message locally and nationally!” reports Dr. Albanis.
Finally, many of our doctors find great pleasure in international education and mission work. Drs. Lubeck and Albanis have all participated in efforts across the world educating doctors and treating patients in need.
